• 5.0 out of 5 stars from Guardian_angel -- Sheer twisted genius : For the faint of heart, be warned. This book will flay you open, expose you to horror upon horror, and then put you back together with nothing more than hope and "maybe love". In other words, it is pure genius! Please read the trigger warnings because there really is a lot in here that is dark and heartbreaking, however, and this is a huge point, there is an awful lot of strength and hope and, yes, even love. The things that Noah went through as a child are utterly horrific, but the author managed to highlight how strong Noah was and how resilient, rather than focus on the bad. While Noah thinks of himself as damaged, the story focuses on his inner strength to deal with the turn his life has taken and how, in Adam, he finds the pieces to fill in his voids. Adam is absolutely fascinating and uniquely endearing - in as much as a psychopath can be! I love how he clinically looks at his relationship with Noah and, while emotionally he doesn't completely understand it, he knows that something fundamental shifted in him the day they met. Adam's brothers are a sarcastic, abrasive group and I loved each of them. This book is filled with so much emotion that it's difficult to put into words just how much this resonated with me. There's humor and heartbreak. There's adrenaline fueled chaos and quiet moments of simple communication. There's obsession and possession and off the charts sexual heat. There are parts that I felt so deeply that it was scary. Maybe it's because I experienced similar trauma as a child. Maybe it's because the author is a complete wizard with words and completely exposed a world that really exists. Perhaps it's both! Whatever the reason, this is one book that will stay with me for quite some time and I mean that in the best of ways. It is absolutely stunning and I can not recommend it enough! I don’t think I had until ‘Unhinged: Necessary Evil’ by Onley James. If ever there was a book written for me by a complete stranger, this is it. Two of my top ten favorite movies of all time are Grosse Pointe Black and Mr. Right, both of which feature hitmen falling in love. ‘Unhinged’ is like one of those movies, but Gay and Twisted, which gets a very vocal, “yes, please!” from me. I honestly didn’t even realize it was an author Ive read before but I had and instantly realized why I loved it so much! This author weaves a good story. The character are well thought out and the love stores are gritty. Murder, child abuse, hard to deal with storylines aren’t for everyone but I love to read and to be fair I get bored reading the same old same old. This story kept me on the line. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from SED877 -- I cannot recommend this highly enough : I am in awe of any writer that can produce an original story and do it such an explosive manner. I floved this book, Adam and Noah just worked, the story was gritty, sexy and speedy pulse rate inducing and my heart broke for Noah. No ridiculous whiny characters and a family I can’t wait to know more about has me looking forward to the next in the series and has cemented this author as one of my favourites.
